Two words that start with the letter ‘F’ but couldn’t be further apart in meaning and function There are many things, events, feelings, emotions that are common to all men and women. Some are good, some are bad, and some can be used for good that might be considered bad. The bottom line though is we all have similar lenses that we look at life through, and one of them is ‘fear’.
Fear is something that literally breaks up healthy thoughts, feelings, and emotions. Did you know that cancer is a break up of the normal function of cells in the human body? It is interesting that fear and cancer have similar ways of ‘breaking’ things up. Fear is a true disrupter of life, and more importantly, it’s a disrupter of your heart, your soul, and your mind. Fear, greased up a slab of panic, can disrupt and interrupt any good healthy progress you are trying to make in life.
Along with our day time hours, those in-between times of sleep and awake we are so often pelted and stoned by the words, the sights, and the actions of what ‘fear’ tries to tell us. Dealing with the emotion of fear day and not can leave you feeling hollowed out.
Is there a cure… sure there is. Does it always work? Well, the definition of work is something we should talk about. Dealing with fear is much like dealing with a battle or war… it can be a very ‘fluid’ environment and something that works one day might not give you the same traction the next day.
In dealing with fear I have found that the best way to deal with it is to call upon God.
He says in His word, that He has not given us the Spirit of Fear, but the Spirit of Power, Love and a Sound Mind. (2nd Timothy 1:7)
From that baseline, I can at least start with the fact that our Father in Heaven doesn’t want us to be or live in fear. He wants us to be and live in power and love. Is there a cure for fear? Well, let’s start with living in the mindset of His Power and His Love for ourselves and those around us.
Peace on your Journey this week.
