Focus is such an interesting topic. Growing up in a ‘photo family’, using a camera was basically a requirement. It wasn’t just the art form of what makes a good composition, it was the technical side of how a camera works.
Focus is a powerful tool when talking about personal development and coaching.
It’s interesting to think about focus because, what you focus on, grows in intensity. Good and bad. Think about it for a minute. When you start your new diet plan, you ‘focus’ on what you should and shouldn’t eat. The amounts, the calories, etc. but after a while, you know what you find out, you are still thinking of food all of the time, which i
s how you got to the place where you needed to diet…focus.
Focus has so many applications in our everyday life and you know what one of the great ‘killers’ of focus is?
Distraction. To be stated plainly, we are a distracted society.
I recently read that one of our main problems today is our brains are ‘over stimulated’, meaning the constant connectedness, always having a phone or device in hand has actually made concentration and focus harder because there is too much coming in.
If you want focus to work for you, it’s time to think of putting the distractions down and get back your ability to focus. If growing, moving forward is a type of war then today’s distractions are the perfect “divide and conquer” which inhibits our ability to focus.
Remember, what you focus on increases. If you are struggling in your personal life, in your personal growth, then it might be time to find a coach or counselor and start putting focus on finding solutions instead of deadening the pain with distractions.
Use the tool of Focus.
