Most of us work best in some kind of team. There are two main things that help build a great team to accomplish the goals ahead!
- Collaboration
- Safety
And…there are two main groups in any team.
Extroverts and Introverts.
It is true that when we have a harmonious, mature, adult approach we can accomplish just about anything with a team. It’s also true that having that kind of team means morale is good. It means there is trust, there is respect. Ego’s are set aside. The greater good of the team is more important than self-promotion and the ‘I am right, you are wrong’ mentality.
Those are the rare teams. Those are the teams that either has a group of very mature individuals that understand each other well, or someone has invested A LOT of time growing his or her folks to the point where they really gell.
Usually, in all teams, there are one or two individuals that are highly talented and they typically rise to the top due to gifting. And… in most teams, they all naturally ‘settle’ into a place where your more outgoing participants somewhat take charge.
Here where it can get dicey. Usually, those who ‘tend’ to take charge have an ability to be faster to the solution than others. What do you think that does to the rest of the team?
It creates what I call ‘Team Killers’.
The team now follows the goal of being ‘right’.
When the extroverts, the most outgoing take over it can create the ‘I am right, You are wrong’ mentality we mentioned earlier. It’s a team Killer for SURE!
We are so short-sighted in trying to get something done that we lose the point of trying to build the strong team which takes ALL individuals into account for the great accomplishment of what needs to be done.
Look out for your team members this week and stay on point in keeping all team members, introverts and extroverts working as one!
Peace this Week.
